From 1 to 31 October a Ghostly Worshipper trades harvest for Strange Shards. Each shard summons Pyzifax the Lemures, and every kill drops one of the four event items.
The Ghostly Worshipper only visits a world where Pyzifax, the satyr warlord in the desert, is already dead, and only if you have a town with a Town Core. The game looks for both when the event switches on and again every morning at 05:00, so if you kill Pyzifax during October the worshipper turns up the next morning in front of your Town Core, and the chat announces the visit.
The dates come from the real-world clock in UTC. When October ends the worshipper leaves and the quest stops being offered. Any Strange Shards you saved keep working afterwards, because the shard only checks where you are standing, not the date.
Talk to the worshipper to take the Mundus Cerialis quest. It counts produce in your own inventory, not in storage, and removes it when you hand in. The reward is one Strange Shard. The quest is repeatable, so every extra load of produce is another boss attempt.
Strange ShardUse the Strange Shard outdoors. It does nothing inside a dungeon or a building, and nothing while a Lemures fight is already running anywhere in the world. The sky goes dark (the chat calls it Defectus Lunae) and Pyzifax the Lemures drops in on top of you. It is single use with a two-minute cooldown and stacks to 20. If you would rather not fight, it sells for 500 or gives Ceres 100 worship.
You can't outrun him. After 2 seconds without a target he teleports next to a random player in the overworld. If every player leaves the overworld for 4 seconds (into a dungeon, a building or back to the menu) the fight ends and a Strange Shard drops where he stood, so walking away doesn't cost you the offering.
Pyzifax the LemuresPyzifax the Lemures is Pyzifax brought back as a spirit: faster, with green fire bombs where the original throws boulders. He has 1,500 health plus 80 for each extra player, 18 armor and 18 magic resistance. At half health he enrages and his run speed goes from 1.5 to 2.

While he is alive, the normal spawns around the fight are replaced with undead. Half of them are Fast Jumping Skulls, a quarter are Uncursed Skeleton Warriors, and the rest are Skeleton Warriors and Skeleton Archers. The spawn cap doubles and the wait between spawns drops to a third, though each roll only succeeds a fifth as often, and 3% of them arrive as elites.
Dying during any boss fight now means a 20-second wait before you respawn, against 5 seconds the rest of the time.
Every kill drops exactly one of the four event items, at 25% each, along with a Sapphire and an Amethyst. The event item comes with a random modifier drawn from the trinket pool.
