The team at Beartwigs have been working hard on bringing you the next update, and so today we're making this post to bring you up to speed on what's happening at the office!
The Autumn Update
The first grand step of our Roadmap releases the 31st of August!
The Autumn Update is rapidly approaching with a whole cart-load of QoL changes and content. Here's what you can expect, on top of a whole heap of bug fixes:
Steam Input:
Controllers are finally coming to Romestead!
We've spent a large chunk of the summer preparing the setup of controllers for Romestead, and we're almost ready to put it back into your hands!
Goodbye "Furniture Mode":
With the next update we are removing the "Press R to toggle Furniture Mode" in order to pick up items again, as we felt it was very unintuitive.
After the update, you can now press and hold the interact button (E by default) to pick up items like the workbench, barricades, and other furniture.
New Content!
This update includes over 30 new dungeons all over the world, and an update to Challenge Dungeons that removes the possibility of being killed by the entrance over and over again, that includes over 70 new rooms!
With these new dungeons we've made some updates to the World Generation, amongst which is a fix to prevent weird desert entrance generation! In order to see these new dungeons and updates, you are required to create a new world!
Quality of Life:
We've implemented a variety of Quality of Life changes in the next patch, and even more are coming in the future updates. For now, here is a taste of what is coming in the Autumn Update:
New farmland removal tool.
Demolishing decorations now return its materials.
The ability to sleep in a wider range of beds.
Better Pathfinding for citizens.
Carpenter will now help repair constructions.
Multiplayer Connection Improvements
Finally, we've made some more improvements to the multiplayer connection, including a network connection indicator. We'd love to hear your feedback regarding this so if you'd like to help us out, read "Beta Branch Testing" below.
...and for those of you who saw our video on social media regarding "Saving the rabbits", after this update they will no longer despawn after you've picked them up! Time to go make that Romestead Zoo!
Beta Branch Testing
As you may have noticed, we have uploaded a bunch of the recent patches to our "Beta Branch". We use this as a method to let you test for game breaking issues before we send updates out to the main game.
In order to help us out, right click on Romestead in your library and select "Properties", and then select the beta branch in the list.
Update the game, and you will have access to everything we've posted about in our Beta Branch Patch notes!
And to those of you who have tested and helped us out, Thank You!
Even though we don't respond to them, we read the bugs and issues that you are posting, and it is invaluable to us, and to Romestead.

Before we end this post for now, we're happy to announce that Romestead will be part of the Steam PvE Survival Crafting Fest taking place August 31 to September 7.
It's an excellent time to pick up Romestead with a brand new Autumn update to launch you into the adventures!
We're hard at work polishing the final parts of the Autumn Update, and are so excited to send our Trading Post delivery over to your towns!
The team have already started to work hard on the next major content update and the things that are growing in the shadows are haunting to say the least!
